Welcome, Fontana music students, to  Ms. Patricia O’Herron’s website – Elemusic!  This website is made especially for you – kids between 8 to 11 years old.  I hope you will enjoy the extra features on Elemusic you can’t get in Teams.  I am a music teacher-leader in Fontana.

When I was 8 years old, I joined my first choir, singing songs in English and German.  At 9 years old, I started guitar lessons.  At 11, I started to play drums in junior high band and also in high school band.  At 16, I took a piano class in high school as an elective.  By 18, I was loving music and started private voice lessons singing opera.  At 20, I started private piano lessons and conducting.  At 23, I started teaching music, conducting and performing as a soloist professionally.  I have had many AMAZING life experiences as a musician,  teacher, and conductor for the past 34 years:  with senior citizens, church groups, preschoolers, middle school, high school, university, and for the last 21 years, Fontana elementary students.  I continue to want to learn and grow as a musician, teacher and conductor.

My family did not have a lot of money, so I worked part-time, saved money and applied for scholarships and grants to go away to school.  My parents and grandparents were immigrants to America.  They had to learn to  speak many languages in the lands they lived and had to leave.  Growing up in San Francisco, I spoke Russian with my family, and came to school as an English Learner.  I understand how difficult it is to learn a new language.  In fact, learning how to read music is like learning a new language!

The bird on the piano is Rudy, my green-cheek conure.  You might see him during distance learning on Teams.
